A warning.
Its quite possible that I might go through old Daily Update Emails and put them on here. I began the practice of posting one’s that I thought were readable to a general audience on the web about a year ago.  Just as a tester, I might see if I can go back and reissue some of that stuff that I wrote before I began posting it on the old blogger site.  I’m not sure if anyone reads this...

WatchWatch
We took a trip a few weeks back to film a promo video for our first ever Canvas Weekend Away.  I found this bit of cinematic glory on the cutting room floor. Not quite sure why, though.

some post about a song... kind of.
It is not too difficult to find a wide range of meaning in our everyday events.  Its really just a matter of having our eyes open.  There are so many connections, so many memories colliding with current surroundings, so much to smell and see in our local geography that all that is really required of us to feel and acknowledge meaning in our lives is to simply be awake.  Open your eyes and the...

the soul and the self.
I was talking to a couple of friends the other night about people that have “soul” and people who don’t.  I guess you can’t really say that someone “has soul”.  It should be that they “got soul”.  As in: “Man, that guy got soul.”   I guess.  Anyway. They were pressing me for a definition of what it means to have “soul” and I...

social networking.
So here is the run down. I once used a blogger account, now I use Tumblr. I still have the blogger because you have to have it to use anything Google.  Its sort of an archive for old posts. I have a youtube account and I have a vimeo account. I use neither. I have a flickr account. Along with Yahoo, of course. I don’t use it. I have and use Twitter. I use it frequently, along with...

Reminded of a great old poem..
God’s Grandeur, By: Gerard Manly Hopkins. THE WORLD is charged with the grandeur of God.  It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;  It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oilCrushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod?Generations have trod, have trod, have trod; 5 And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil;  And wears man’s smudge and shares man’s smell: the...

I want to be in there.
The weather has been a little warmer over the past few days, and the air was heavy with mist this afternoon.  A little rain and a little chill does little to stop Nathan from setting up the grill outside of the Canvas House every single Thursday at noon.  Students shuffle to and from their lectures, anticipating the smoke rising from the sidewalk at 23 Tiverton Road.  With the rain and the cold,...

a long walk in england.
Well, I just went on an amazingly long walk.  I planned for it to be about 45 minutes long, just enough to get my legs stretched out nice and loose, rain falling down in that light, misty way that it does so often here, but I was lured into a park by the green and the creek and the footpaths non-disturbed by cars and buses and before I knew it was beyond my target time.  I kept on walking,...
